FDM printers

FDM stands for fused deposition modeling and refers to 3D-printing with thermoplastic polymers.

    Safety rules for FDM printers

    • Always operate the 3D printer in a well-ventilated area, especially if using materials that produce fumes that can be harmful if inhaled. If using PLA, no additional ventilation is needed, but if using other materials, discuss the need for additional ventilation with the personnel.
    • Make sure the 3D printer is set up on a stable and level surface to prevent accidents.
    • Only use materials that are compatible with the 3D printer and follow the manufacturer's instructions for loading and unloading filament. If using materials other than PLA, discuss their use with the personnel first.
    • Do not touch the printer's moving parts, as they can cause injury. Don't touch the hotend.
