Anna Petersson (b. 1971) is senior lecturer in architecture. Her research includes the way our material culture and built environment both reflect and take part in societal changes concerning cultural diversity in existential meaning-making and in individual networks of support. Starting from the recognition of memorialisation and its material culture in spontaneous and official memorial places in contemporary Sweden, to a study of existential moments and their physical setting in an existing room of silence at the hospital SUS in Malmö, and towards an outlook on animals place in the contemporary human cemetery Östra Kyrkogården in Malmö, exploring animals role in current Swedish society and culture.
Petersson has published articles in international journals such as Mortality and Folklore. She is also a research member of the Nordic Network of Thanatology, and has a Master of Fine Arts in Metal Design from Konstfack, University College of Arts, Craft and Design in Stockholm.
Teaching includes courses in Visual Communication and Aesthetics for the Industrial Design Programme at the School of Industrial Design, LTH.
